Community Services
Community services provide a wide range of support to people dealing with mental health struggles, including dementia. The service brings together different health and social care professionals, including nurses, occupational therapists and psychiatrists. During the pandemic, these teams adapted to ensure they could continue to support vital face to face interaction.
"I work at a service for people with dementia. We adapted our service quickly, so we were able to see patients in their homes when it was safe to do so. I’m also involved with the Trust’s End of Life Care Working Party. I’m really proud of the work we’ve done during the pandemic. We’ve made lots of resources available to staff to help them feel more confident about this area of care." Nykki Hetherton, Dementia Clinical Nurse Specialist
"Our teams have been really good at supporting our clients in a variety of different ways. There was a client who found it difficult to leave the house and their psychosis got much worse during lockdown. One of the occupational therapists in our team introduced socially distanced cycling trips which made a huge difference to this person’s life." Judy Newman, General Manager, Lambeth Community Services
