South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has been under increased pressure during the current coronavirus pandemic, supporting people with challenging mental health conditions, and staff are going above and beyond to make sure that this high quality care continues during uncertain times.
When the crisis began to sweep the country we immediately committed money to help respond to patients and staff suffering the effects of the pandemic.
We launched a COVID-19 Emergency Appeal through our website, which attracted donations from individuals and corporate organisations. Local comedians such as Jo Brand came to the support of the appeal and helped to spread the word.
Along with our own funds we have also received funding from the NHS Charities Together campaign, as well as from trusts, foundations and fundraising efforts.
As the longer term impact of the pandemic becomes clearer, we will work with our partners in health and research that will see us orientate to more community-based support, through existing and new programmes of work, and funding research to understand and help manage the mental health implications of COVID-19.
Since the start of COVID-19 we have organised over 50 deliveries across the Trust and provided more than 5500 items to patients and staff.
